To ensure your packaging design attracts your target market, I firstly make sure I listen closely to you, the founder. You’re the one who has built this business and knows your audience the best. I make sure I take everything you tell me into consideration as we move through the design process.
I also do my own research to understand your audience’s preferences and behaviors. By aligning the design with your brand’s ethos and values, we create a cohesive and recognisable brand and packaging experience.

Uncover Your Unique Brand Message
Sometimes as business-owners when we get bogged down and when we aren’t achieving our goals, we begin to think that there’s nothing unique about us or our business. I get it, I’ve been there! But I guarantee there are plenty of things that make you and your business unique, sometimes you just need an outside pair of eyes to help you see it. This is where Stage 1 of my design process comes in. We gather all the vital information we need to bring your dream design to life.
Inspiration & Direction
Now that I’ve got all the juicy information needed to create a fantastic design, it’s time to start getting visual. What I mean by this is it’s time for me to start gathering images that will serve as inspiration for your project. You may have heard of moodboards before and that’s essentially what this stage is. Images can include designs from other companies that share a similar tone and creative direction to what you are looking for. Photographs that may help inspire your colour palette. Images of any unique visuals that are already associated with your business.
Design Time
Now that I have both the info and the visuals, what you’ve been waiting for - the actual design can begin! I take the time to start sketching out initial ideas, experimenting with different visuals and developing the best designs to a point where they are good enough to show you and be considered a starting point for your final design!
Feedback & Refinement
This stage is all about refining your chosen design direction so it really looks and feels like your brand! You give initial feedback on the first design presentation and I will take this into consideration for the next round and so on.
I may send you some packaging prototypes I have made during this stage so you can begin to see how a particualr design will look in real life.
Prototyping
Once the design has been approved it's time to start getting prototypes made with your chosen printer to make sure everything translates from the screen into the real world the exact way we want it to.
This is a really important stage that can't be skipped as different issues can arise when getting prototypes made. We want to figure out what these issues are and fix them before moving onto the launch stage.
Brand & Packaging Launch!
Once your prototypes pass the final checks and both of us as well as your printer are happy with them, they are ready for the real world!
I'll send you the final print files so the packagin can so into production. I'll also export and share any digital assest I created for you earlier in the project so you are ready to promote your brand new look. For example your branded Canva templates will be ready for you to start using. And you will also get tutorial videos on how to use your these templates so you have to confidence to consistently implement your new unique Branding alongside your Packaging design.

Competitor analysis and a shelf study are really important parts of my packaging design process. To be able to make your products stand out I needd to know who you are up against and where you’ll be up against them.
My findings from these study’s will feed into my branding design process, which will be the first step. Your packaging design ultimately will be based on your unique brand message. So the design will be tailored exactly to your products, your brand personality and what makes your products unique.
